A striking sculpture of Pablo Picasso greets visitors at the hotel’s entrance.

Pablo Picasso was waiting for me as I walked down the entrance avenue of The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore. There he sat on a rocking chair, and as I stood next to him, admiring the very realistic sculpture of the artist, I knew I was in for an extraordinary experience. Set in the heart of the city, near its bustling business hub, the stately hotel is a secluded haven of modern luxury, marked by a design aesthetic most art museums would envy. Before I could get lost in the creative opulence around me, I was greeted with a warm friendliness that made me feel instantly at home. The feeling was enhanced as I settled into my spacious room— elegantly furnished, with a plush bed, large work desk, a cosy seating area by the window, and a lavish bathroom, it was a true oasis of comfort and style.

GOURMET ESCAPADES

Tempted to stay in the room, I heeded the loud call of hunger and headed to their signature restaurant, Riwaz, which offers the best of traditional North Indian cuisine. From succulent kebabs and home-style vegetables to the ubiquitous dal makhani, buttery naans, and a divine kulfi falooda, I savoured an absolutely blissful meal. The property, frankly, is a treasure chest of gourmet delights. The Market, their all-day dining eatery, serves an extensive buffet spread of Indian and international favourites. The Lantern is perfect for relishing Cantonese cuisine. The highlight over here, undoubtedly is the divine dim sum selection. And then there’s Izu, a chic escape for enjoying inventive Japanese fare with a Peruvian flair! From the delicate carpaccio to the intriguing Forbidden Salmon rolls, here’s culinary excellence at its best.

A colourful masterpiece takes pride of place in the elegant Club Lounge.

CREATIVE VISIONS

Tasteful sitting arrangement in a plush suite at the hotel.

Gastronomic desires satiated, I was ready to revel in the artistic attractions around me. Walking through the hotel feels like stepping into a curated gallery. In addition to the Picasso sculpture by Robert St. Croix, it’s home to more than 1,200 artworks. A vividly colourful painting by Revati Sharma Singh in the Club Lounge is breathtaking! The design ethos extends to the nature-themed spa, as well. This award-winning wellness retreat soothes not just with its selection of rich treatments but also with abstract artwork in calming colours, adding a layer of deep meaning to the space. And that’s what The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore does so well. Whether there for business or a holiday, it leaves you with an experience that’s not only luxurious but also personal, making your stay truly memorable.
